Access to ClinicalTrials.gov Protocol Registration System

  1. Complete and submit the ClinicalTrials.gov New Account Request Form below. The Office of Quality Compliance (OQC) will typically create your account within 1 - 2 business days.
  2. Your account information and temporary password will be sent to the email address you provide.
  3. If you are interested in learning more about ClinicalTrials.gov, the University of Utah Research Education (REd) offers a self-paced ClinicalTrials.gov training module.

Responsible Party

Within the PRS system, the “Responsible Party,” a term defined in U.S. Public Law 110-85, Title VIII, Section 801, is ultimately accountable for the submission and maintenance of the PRS record. The University of Utah requires the Sponsor-Investigator or lead PI funded by NIH, or other Common Rule department or agency, be the designated Responsible Party for each respective record on ClinicalTrials.gov.

Record Owner

The person who creates the record will automatically be listed as the Record Owner. All email messages about the record will be sent to the Record Owner. They can maintain the record themselves or give one or more user’s access to the record to make changes.

  • An administrator can change the Record Owner after the record has been created, please contact OQC@utah.edu for assistance.
